Sydney Water is working to expand our network to meet increased demands from growth in South West Sydney. In Kemps Creek, we are installing 4.5 km of new water main to ensure our existing and future customers continue to have reliable access to clean drinking water.
Upcoming work – Western Road closure
We have now completed installation of assets on Cross Street in front of Kemps Creek Public School and Christadelphian Heritage College. We will return to Western Road to continue installation of the pipeline between Cross Street and Elizabeth Drive.
To complete this we need to implement a full closure of Western Road between Cross St & Elizabeth Drive during the daytime. The work will take place for a period of up to 3 weeks between Monday 19 July and Saturday 7 August 2021, weather permitting.
Traffic changes
A section of Western Road between Cross Street and Elizabeth Drive will be closed to traffic during our work hours. A detour will be in place via Elizabeth Drive, Devonshire Road and Cross Street. Please see map overleaf. Local access to Overett Avenue will be maintained, however there may be some delays. Please allow extra time in planning your journey. We will open one lane to traffic outside of our work hours on a stop-go arrangement using temporary traffic lights. Please see map over the page. We appreciate that this is a busy area and we thank the local community for their patience while we deliver these works.
Upcoming work – valve installation
After installation of the pipeline is complete, we will install a valve on Western Road to control the pressure of the water as it enters homes. There will also be a small electrical cabinet and pit installed. During this work, we will maintain one lane of traffic on a stop-go arrangement. Please see map overleaf.
This work will take place for a period of up to 4 weeks between Monday 9 August and Saturday 4 September, weather permitting. This road closure will effect access to Kemps Creek Memorial Park when entering Western Road from Elizabeth Drive. The best access from Elizabeth drive is via Devonshire Road and onto Tavistock Road.
