New limits on funeral attendance

After assessing the COVID Safe Framework announced by the National Cabinet, the NSW State Government has announced a further easing of restrictions on funeral attendance numbers.

Effective from Friday 15 May, 2020:

  • Funeral services held indoors in our chapels will be permitted to accommodate a maximum of 20 attendees
  • Funeral services held outdoors such as those at graveside will be allowed to have a maximum of 30 attendees

These numbers exclude the funeral director, priest/celebrant and essential staff.

In accordance with the framework, a record must be kept of all attendees names and contact details for each funeral gathering. Please note that our team will be circulating contact sheets for completion at the commencement of funeral services held at our cemeteries.

Please note that social distancing measures still apply, and all attendees must maintain the required 1.5 metre minimum person-to-person spacing for funeral services held outdoors such as those at graveside, and the four-square-metre per person minimum for funeral services held indoors in our chapels.

Funeral Functions/Wakes

On-site funeral functions/wakes are limited to a maximum of 20 attendees. Excluding the funeral director and essential staff.
Those attending a function/wake must practice safe social distancing requirements and observe the four square metre distancing requirements and avoid congregating in large groups anywhere within our cemeteries.

Please note that as of midnight Thursday 27 March 2020, NSW Police will introduce on the spot fines for corporations and individuals that do not comply with social distancing directives including those associated with funerals.

Reduced face to face contact

Our reception areas at all sites will be closed from Wednesday 26 March 2020 and access provided to our offices by appointment only.  Attendees at appointments will be restricted to a maximum of two people per family.
